No, not the old bag (personal opinion, not TZ1′s) who lives in merry old London, but the band of the same name.

Yes, Queen is one of the greatest bands there has ever been (fact, not personal opinion) and one of my favourite bands ever since I was given a cassette (showing my age) of their greatest hits. While listening for the first time every song was better than the last and instantly memorable, however the one song that stands out for most people is Bohemian Rhapsody (known as Bohemian Rhapsody to the world, and as that song from Wayne’s World to Americans, nothing against either WW or the USA, we love both!).

It is a little known fact that with Bohemian Rhapsody Queen invented the music video. Giving a big up yours to UK  show Top of the Pops, and refusing to lip sync their performance or edit down there rock opera hit for television, Queen recorded a live performance of the song, created some nifty effects in post, and handed over a tape to the popular show, and by doing so created a little history. Now I’m not saying Queen is fully responsible for shaping the way most of us now digest music (or used to, thanks iTunes!), nor did they create the MTV generation (side note: is it just me or does MTV no longer play music and just endless crappy reality shows, kind of like TLC, which used to be known as the The Learning Channel, but now thanks to their awful show John and Kate + Eight all it plays is crappy reality shows, sigh!), however in a small way they did start a music revolution… after all video killed the radio star (side note: although I can’t stand most reality shows and maybe in another existence would agree with the following, but who calls their new album Reality Killed the Video Star, oooh Robbie Willams how post-modern of you).

Of course with any great song, comes the awful cover versions, and the inspired homages. The latest one to hit the net was the Muppets version, another slightly bizarre version is the lego version, both along with the original and the Wayne’s World version are embedded below for your viewing pleasure (there are countless more on YouTube)… enjoy and marvel at how one song has inspired so many.

However, before getting to the fun stuff, the Business Team wanted me to tell you all how much they loved New Moon, the new film in the Twilight series. They made a special point of mentioning it in the WIP meeting last week and were so clearly dazzled by the teenage sensation that they have thrown out their Harry Potter toys and have now all downloaded Robert Pattinson screen savers, rumors abound that the agency will soon be called TwimeZoneOne.
