Most of the time I visit my five regular websites (movie blogs, cricket updates etc) and never really venture any further into the world wide interwebs, mainly because I can’t be bothered wading through the endless sites of rubbish, and also because I can never really find what I am searching for.

However recently I have discovered a web browser add on called Stumble Upon . After you install Stumble Upon it ask you fill in forms which cover your interests, what you do, and the basic facts about who you are. Once you have done this and finished installing the program it adds a button to your web browser tool bar which simply says stumble, click on it and that is exactly what it does… it stumbles upon websites that pertain to the information you have given it and brings up sites that according to your interests etc you will want to look at. Now by all means its not perfect, there is still the rubbish that you don’t want, but then there is the random bizarre stuff which you would never find with your generic search engines, and then there are moments of gold which is exactly what you are looking for.

The second app is Social Seek , which is better for researching brands rather than finding the bizarre on the web. What you can do is for example enter the word Crocs into Social Seek and every twitter and facebook thread, every video, every image etc that is on the internet is collated into one window from which you can pick and choose what to view. It also updates in real time so every new tweet that comes through etc will appear and update in the browser. It is a great way to keep in touch with what people are saying about brands etc and is a valuable tool for peeps in the advertising industry to research and stay in touch with brands they are working on.

 Thats all folks.
