the queen’s birthday – gawd bless ‘er
The Queen’s Birthday is always observed in New Zealand with a national holiday on the first Monday in June. This I find slightly weird, especially as (a) her birthday is actually in April and (b) in the UK they don’t actually celebrate the occasion in any major way….a fact that many Kiwis find rather surprising.
