It has been quite awhile since I have been on blog duty. Much has changed in the world, the United States leaned to the left with Barach Obama, New Zealand leaned to the right with John Key and the National party, the Seattle Supersonics are now the Oklahoma City Thunder (tears), the Arizona Cardinals played in the Superbowl, the world is a little skiddish about certain things like the future, and Ken Griffey Jr. has returned to the Seattle Mariners! I know he is 39 years old and but a shadow of the player that left Seattle years ago, but this longsuffering, relocated Seattle sports fan can’t helped but smile. The moment when Edgar Martinez hit “The Double” to drive Ken Griffey Jr. in for the winning run to win the ALCS division series agains the evil Yankees will forever be a memory, along with the many home runs and acrobatic catches in center made by Junior. Those were the days.

Also, since my last blogging, I’ve become a father for the first time. My family and I will be visiting Seattle this August and you can be sure we will be at Safeco Field for at least one game for probably the last chance for us to see Griffey play and more importantly to introduce my son to America’s pastime.
