As many of you know I’m off to travel south america with my girlfriend, and if you have bothered to ask me about it, you would have been met with a pretty vague response. But you will be happy to know we have a plan, a pretty rough one at that. I have always wanted to travel with no strings attached, with the freedom to amble along and if we find a nice town just hang out there for a while then blow the hell outa there like the onshore breeze.

We do have a rough itinerary, landing in Santiago Chile then traveling to Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and Uraguay. We will purchase a car just outside the wave mecca of Arica, (For those of you doing the same, you need to register to make any purchases over $1000 in Chile). Drive the length of the country cross into Argentina via Patagonia, drive around Argentina up to Uraguay, sell the car and fly out of Buenos Aires to Helsinki , Finland.

For those of you who want to go on holiday, but dont have the time to do it, consider purchasing a “holiday at home” kit, from the brilliant school of life. The Kit includes an interesting book by Alain De Botton, The Art of Travel  is a philosophical look at the ubiquitous but peculiar activity of travelling ‘for pleasure’, with thoughts on airports, landscapes, museums, holiday romances, photographs, exotic carpets and the contents of hotel mini-bars.

This is all a big change for me so today I leave you with this: Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become.
