oh to be frank..

This is my last week here at TIMEZONEONE, and what a daunting task given to me, to blog my final week, so much to say, so much to live up for. My fan base of one, Brett Folkes asked for the uncut, unsensored Brett, I signed his nipple and told him “um… where do I start”
I can see Nigel freaking at the thought, so for all the under-aged designers in our India office, it will be a week of warm fuzzies, heart wrenchers and tear enducing fables through my knowledge pipes.
Design. I tend to have trouble keeping anything simple, I’ll start out with a basic idea , and this manifests into somthing out of my control, I swear I never intend it to get like that. Some days design seems so fluid, I will start with a load of randomness then it all just seems to fit into place at the end, other days I struggle to see why am I doing this? why design? why advertising…?
So here is a super talented illustrator/designer/thinker, who has made his own name, for himself, 2 years fresh out of college, Frank Chimero. As self-described on his site: Frank is a designer, illustrator and tinkerer from Missouri. Inspired by the mid-century aesthetic. He believes in simplicity, honesty, humor, enthusiasm, keeping busy and air guitar solos. He also believes in lots of little things over one big thing, doing what he loves, his way. Frank Chimero has some great words of advice and his ethos, one I particularly like is: There are no secrets or shortcuts. Work hard.
 Here is a few tongue and cheek observations he has put into graphic visuals that are quite nice, and might answer those questions, why design..?
