cal bears make emerald bowl

TimeZoneOne has been working extensively with Cal Berkeley to create marketing collateral around the soon to be unveiled Endowment Seating Program. As such, we Zoners here in America took lively interest in the fortunes of the University’s Cal Bears football team. The Cal Bears were recently confirmed as Pac 10 representatives for the Emerald Bowl.
In the United States, a bowl game is traditionally a post-season college football game. Teams must earn the right to be bowl eligible by winning at least six games and by not having a losing record during the season. They are then invited to a bowl game based on their placement and the tie-ins that the conference has to each bowl game.
This season the California Golden Bears will play the University of Miami in the seventh annual Emerald Bowl on Dec. 27 at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The game will be televised nationally.
After the Cal football team polished off its 48-7 win over Washington, the Bears finished the season fourth in the Pac 10 standings and thus made the bowl season. Bowl games are extremely prestigious for the schools involved and represent a kind of post season between conferences.
Miami (7-5, 4-4 ACC) will face California (8-4, 6-3 Pac-10) for the fourth time in program history, with the Hurricanes leading the all-time series, 2-1. The last time the Hurricanes and Golden Bears played was 1990, when UM won at Cal, 52-24.
Due to the close proximity, the Emerald Bowl will be a home game of sorts for Cal. This also marks the first time in its seven-year history that the Emerald Bowl will feature a prominent Bay Area team, which promises to increase local interest in the game.
TimeZoneOne congratulates the Cal Bears on their season and wish them the best of luck in their tussle with Miami!
