the woods are lovely, dark and deep

But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep…

Today the joys of being a father are being slightly outweighed by the necessity for forty winks, or at least forty minutes unbroken sleep.
Well, for all those who have the energy, especially Tatts after that spirited sporty piece…why not refresh your palate with a meaty drink. Yes real men don’t eat quiche, they drink it. It’s the real liquid lunch, everything you would want from a hearty meal, liquidised and packaged into a lovely little bottle. From Meatwater, the company that brings you your pizza in a bottle ready for lunch al-desko!
For those of you in need of more stimulation get your laughing gear around ‘Billy Boy’, a German clone of Red Bull which thoughtfully includes a condom within every can…hmm, must taste interesting
And finally, before I nip into the meeting room for a quick power nap, let’s bring it back to something a little more design related. Again I turn to a series I saw a few years back called Dreamspaces. The prize of a bottle of Kim Crawford Pinot Noir goes to whoever can say what the presenter is better famed for (without the use of the internet please as that’s cheatin’).
Brazilia, capital of Brazil (may come in useful next time you are at a pub quiz), designed by the prominent architect Oscar Niemeyer who’s 101 years old and still going strong by all accounts. I think this is a wonderful, almost unique, example of a designer being given free reign to work with a broad brush and create architecture on an epic scale…and all in the middle of the rainforest (hmm, maybe not so eco conscious perhaps).
His work is iconic, perhaps because of his international status or the fact that people not only respect him as a designer, but really appreciate that he’s trying to create more than just buildings. The city is a reflection of a man with vision, who was allowed to execute that vision in a world where today too many people err towards the safer, more conservative (Prince Charles top of that list). Whilst parts of it look like they should be the lair of a 007 baddie, look deeper and hopefully you’ll see buildings that are more sculpture than bricks and mortar. Some say that after designing for more than 75 years he should stop now, and actually today I think I know how he feels. Just click on the image below to see the clip and make your own mind up.
Anyway, I now need to dig deep and keep those creative juices flowing for the rest of the day…maybe it’s time for a bottle of meat juice…perhaps not
nighty night. Murray
