Moreraki1My wife is a contemporary artist; Anna has recently been selected to exhibit in a major show at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington. For her inspiration Anna is using the extraordinary rock forms of the MOERAKI boulders just outside of Oamaru. In March we visited the boulders so Anna could photograph and experience the natural wonder of the boulders.

We flew into Dunedin and drove up to the boulders with the family. The boulders are amazing, definitely worth a visit. For those of us who believe in aliens this looks like their work.

Anna took 100s of photos and was fascinated by the texture on the boulders, as a textile design graduate, texture plays a huge part in Anna’s art.

The kids loved the rock pools around the boulders, water is one of the best toys in the world! We stayed the night in Oamaru, Ruba was very excited to be staying in a motel “I love my little house, this is my bed and Rosy will sleep in my room”

The next day we went hunting for penguins and checked out the boulders again. We spent the next two days checking out the sights of Dunedin before returning home.
